SUMMARY
Customer On-Site Engineer providing technical interface to ZFLS products (EPS gears, HPS gears, Columns, & Pumps) required to develop an entire steering system. Will serve as customer’s release engineer requiring extensive knowledge of customer’s engineering processes. Provides insight into customer’s future development needs, thus providing early notice of new business opportunities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

•Provides product support at all levels to the OEM
•Provide engineering support to achieve a steering system design that is optimal for vehicle performance, piece cost, capital investment, quality and manufacturability
•Leads problem solving resolution, root-cause analysis & continuous improvement efforts during launch phase of the program, either at OEM or manufacturing facility
•Responsible for interpreting the customer’s specifications related to the steering system and associated components
•Coordinates/expedites orders and shipments for prototype and development parts, initiates build programs and releases parts to the customer for production
•Leads regularly scheduled Product Development Team (PDT) meetings and distribute meeting minutes to the project team members as required
•Communicates customer information and requirements to and from organizations outside engineering
•Assists in budget control activity, ie. Reducing BOM and supplier tooling costs, reducing capital investment, or improving product manufacturability by initiating VA/VE activity
•Responsible for maintaining and updating all customer Statement of Requirements (SOR) documentation and other specifications that are related to the steering column or gear and associated components
•Responsible for maintaining the Open Issues List for the assigned project and attends regular meetings with the project core team to review the project Open Issues List
•Provide support for the manufacturing facility
•Identify growth opportunities with the OEM
•Comply with all TS16949 policies and procedures
•All other duties as assigned

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
BSME/BSEE required, master’s desired. 5+ years experience in engineering field, preferably with automotive experience.

Physical Demands/Work Environment:
The ability to work in an office and manufacturing assembly environment, which could include sitting or standing for the majority of the day. The positions requires the ability to stand/walk for up to 2 hours at a time, bend, twist, grasp and lift up to 45 pounds on occasion..
